
Overview: Located on central Florida’s east coast, the Palm Coast MSA consists of Flagler County. Residents of this fast growing MSA enjoy a high quality of life, marked by 19 miles of natural beaches and tranquil waterways.
Education: Several institutions of higher education are located in close proximity (within a one hour commute) to the Palm Coast MSA to serve the needs of current and future residents. Flagler College, located in St. Augustine, is a private four-year liberal arts college. The University of North Florida in Jacksonville offers a range of undergraduate and graduate programs. In nearby Daytona Beach, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University provides aviation-aerospace related education, and there is also a branch campus of the University of Central Florida. Stetson University, located in DeLand, is one of Florida’s oldest providers of private liberal education, offering bachelor’s and master programs. Several community colleges are also located in the region including Daytona Beach Community College and St. Johns River Community College.
Infrastructure: I-95 bisects Palm Coast MSA, allowing easy access to Jacksonville and Miami, located 60 miles north and 280 miles south, respectively. Orlando is also readily accessible 80 miles to the southwest via I-4. Air transportation is available at Daytona Beach International Airport, where major carriers provide nonstop service to domestic and international cities. The airport is also part of a foreign trade zone. Flagler County Airport meets the region’s general aviation needs. Water transportation is available 65 miles to the north at the Port of Jacksonville. Rail transportation is available from Florida East Coast Railway.
Business Environment: This MSA’s high population and labor force growth have enabled the targeting of key industries including manufacturing, transportation and warehousing, and professional services. Local industry businesses and manufacturers are primed and ready to keep pace with the high rate of growth Flagler County has enjoyed.
